Another eventful week has passed. After a day of rest at home with me, while the rest of our family went on a small sightseeing trip to the Rhine and Loreley, Daniel had to go to the children's doctor again on Monday. This time not really because he was sick (though he had been spitting up quite a bit the night before and had some pretty bad colics), but mostly for his first routine checkup. They gave him a few prescriptions to help with the colics, but otherwise, he turned out very well and had even gained so much weight by now (reaching 10.23lbs, i.e., 4640g) that they told us to watch that he wouldn't get overweight. (A relief, since so far the midwife had found him barely gaining enough weight because of the breastfeeding problems.) He also took all the strange proceedings at the doctor's very well, barely crying at all. Although he did come up with the wonderful idea to pee on the scale while he was lying on there, getting himself soaked from head to toe...

Daniel on the way home from the doctor and his weight chart up to then. (The black dots show the weight the midwife and doctor measured, the blue line is an estimated reference line.)
After another night in my old baby bed, which Daniel has been using at my parents' place, the next day meant farewell for the next few weeks from "Oma" and "Opa" and his uncle Ferdinand, since it was time to finally return to Aalen.
At Aalen, we only had a day of "rest", which was actually insanely busy since lots of things had to be taken care of after such a long time gone from home. Already the next day, we had to pack our things again to go to Munich for Thursday night and Friday. I had been invited for an interview for a position I had applied for months ago, Jefferson had to go to the Brazilian embassy to get Daniel's birth certificate and take care of some other paperwork, and we wanted Jefferson's mother to get to see a bit more of Germany. The interview didn't quite work out, unfortunately, but the paperwork did. And though Daniel was getting impatient with all the driving around, we even managed to find about an hour while he was sleeping to quickly run through the center of Munich and, naturally, take lots of pictures...

After all this traveling and sightseeing (and standing in traffic jams for hours on the way back to Aalen!), and on top of it, suffering under the heat of the hottest days of the year, Daniel was pretty cranky once we returned home. So we tried to calm him down with the "bucket bath" that, according to the parenting course at the hospital, babies love much more than the regular bath in the tub. Well, Daniel did not quite agree - whereas he has been loving his regular baths, he was very suspicious about this bucket thing...
Last but not least, since we haven't shown a video of him for a while, here is another nice one.
