Week 4

Because of the postponed apartment hunt in Aachen, we changed our plans and stayed at my parents' place this entire week as well. So Daniel continued enjoying the bright and sunny house and having fun with "Oma" und "Opa" (the German words for grandma and granddad).

On Wednesday, Jefferson's mother arrived from Brazil to stay with us for some weeks. So he also finally got to meet his "vovó" (the Portuguese word for grandma)! Since then, he has been busy rotating around from one arm to the next to the next, so that all of his family could have their share of their newest and cutest member... ;-)

With Daniel doing fine again after his infection last week, we also finally managed to travel to Aachen twice and look at some apartments there. Of course these were long and exhausting trips - driving more than two hours each way in the hot car filled with baby equipment, following a busy program of apartment viewing appointments, and trying to find something to eat and a bathroom in between... We had to make some "emergency" stops at random places along the road and were late a few times for viewings because of some quick breastfeeding sessions in the car when Daniel couldn't wait for food any longer. (We did try to give him a bottle of tea a few times to calm him down and get him some extra liquids in the heat, but he didn't let himself be fooled by that and refused, vigorously insisting on getting "the real thing".) Changing diapers in the car was also not exactly trivial, especially since we forgot our changing bag on the second trip and first had to buy some. But luckily, he slept through most of the viewings of the first trip, when it was just the three of us. The second time he was less patient, but since Jefferson's mother came along, she saved us by taking care of him while we were away looking at the apartments... So we managed to see a few places and hopefully will be able to sign a lease in the next couple of days.
