Week 10

The beginning of this week we spent resting at my parents' home and gave Daniel a chance to recover from missing his parents and "vovó" for two entire days. A short walk through Kirchberg, planning and preparing for the big move later this week, and a lot of cuddling and playing with Daniel until he was as happy at Kirchberg as he used to be in his old home in Aalen.

On Wednesday, we had to leave Daniel with my parents once more, to go to Aalen, watch the movers pack all of our belongings into a truck, clean the empty place, and say a final goodbye to our home there. At least this time Daniel had become so comfortable in Kirchberg that he was happy all day playing and laughing with "Oma" and "Opa" and apparently didn't even notice we were gone. We didn't return until very late at night, and Jefferson and his mother went right on to Aachen to make sure everything is ready for move-in. I stayed the night at my parents' place to feed Daniel (since I had had to return the breast pump when we left Aalen).

On Thursday morning, we, i.e., my parents, Daniel, and I, went to Aachen as well, and spent the rest of the day cleaning, mounting lamps and shower equipment, telling the movers where to unload things, etc. The movers took until the early evening, and my parents left a little later. The rest of us stayed in the new apartment in a huge chaos of moving boxes and furniture standing around rather aimlessly... ;-) In the course of the first night, we managed to eventually dig out Daniel's bed, his changing unit and other vital equipment from all this mess. Since then, we have been making little but steady progress in turning the place at least somewhat inhabitable, though so far a lot of work remains to be done - mounting things in the bathroom, assembling new furniture, unpacking many, many boxes... Daniel seems to be taking this chaos pretty well - as long as he gets food when he's hungry and can kick, practice talking his new "shrrr" sounds, and laugh with this parents and "vovó", his little world seems to be completely fine.
