We started the week with another trip to Duisburg to visit Adri - though this time just for a few hours, since we took too long to catch up on the sleep lost during weeknights and to get all the little things ready that we may need for Daniel even on such a rather short drive. But as usual we had fun, playing with Daniel, introducing him to the other Daniel in the mirror, experimenting with the flash of our cameras...
The remainder of the week was also quite eventful. On Wednesday, Daniel had to go to the children's doctor to get his second vaccination against lots of stuff at once, with a nasty injection into each of his legs! He took it very bravely, though - not even paying attention to the first shot and only crying a little bit after the second one. Luckily, he also didn't develop any fever or other side effects. This was especially relieving since we had to leave him with his new babysitter for several hours the same night, since we took part in a "scientific speed dating" event organized at my university, to find out if there are any interesting research projects/groups for me and Jefferson. It turned out not too productive for us (even though the event itself seemed like a very interesting experiment), but at least Daniel and Christin apparently had a good time together. Aside from that, Daniel got to do a lot of exercise this week: except for the usual swimming classes (this time without me, who had to stay at work this time, and therefore, shockingly, without a single picture!), he was training his arms with his baby gym (or well, one of his arms - apparently he is planning to be right-handed ;-) ), doing big push-ups, practicing sitting, "reading" magazines (i.e., crumpling and tearing them with all his force), and fooling around with Mom and Dad...
Last but not least, Sonja, our friend from Aalen, whose parents live not too far from Aachen, managed to come to visit us. It was really great to see her again, and the three of us had a lot of fun together and with Daniel, for example trying to teach him some basic skills for becoming a scientist as well... ;-)
