After we had all recovered from our cold, we finally ventured out again. Since my Christmas vacation started on Monday, we used the opportunity to take a look at the Aachen Christmas market. It had been a while since we had last tried the sling, and now (especially with several layers of clothes) it seemed barely possible to fit Daniel in and tie the knot! Luckily we still managed, and got to take a nice walk downtown. Unlike earlier times in the sling, when this was a foolproof means to make Daniel fall asleep within minutes, this time he stayed wide awake for most of the trip, turning curiously from side to side, puzzled at all the strange lights and the cold air and crowds of people...
After that, it was time to travel to Kirchberg to Oma and Opa and the rest of our German family for Christmas. This was a lot of fun for Daniel as well as for them, since he was laughing and talking happily with everyone there and obviously enjoying to have so many funny people around.
After settling in for a day or two came the big event: Daniel's first Christmas. It started kind of "scary" with a lot of noise, which these big people were calling "music", but uhm, well... ;-)
Then there was a tree with lots of glittering stuff and lights, and all the people sitting around and unwrapping things for hours and hours, and eating, and playing games, and more people visiting. And somehow there are all kinds of new toys that came out of nowhere... Hmhm, this Christmas thing seems kind of cool.
