Week 25 (01/03/2010-01/09/2010)

This week, Daniel finally got a real children's bed! Until now, he had been sleeping in a bassinet that fitted perfectly at first, but had already grown way too small for him several weeks ago. So it was high time when we saw a special offer for a nice bed at one of the local supermarkets right after we returned from our Christmas/New Year's trip. The shopping trip, though, at which we also had to find a new winter jacket for Jefferson and buy our groceries for the week, was "slightly" hellish... While he was still sleeping at first, Daniel woke up soon, and then followed a several hour quagmire of diaper changes and breast feeding breaks in fitting rooms, trying to give him the bottle and carrying him around in our arms to keep him calm while trying to get all of our shopping done... On top of all of it, we barely managed to fit the bed in our car, let alone one or two more people. So I had to quickly drive the bed home and carry it up to our 3rd floor apartment all by myself , while Jefferson was trying to pacify Daniel at the store... (Since Jefferson, still on trial time for his driver's license, would be even "less allowed" ;-) to drive with such an adventurously loaded car.) But somehow, we made it all back home, and after some skillful assembly work, there is now a beautiful and roomy new bed for Daniel waiting for him to sleep through the nights again. (Something he had actually done quite regularly for a while, but sadly he gave up on this blissful habit short before Christmas and basically hasn't allowed us any peaceful nights since. :-( )

Daniel in his bassinet with less than one week, in his bassinet now, and in his new bed now.

This week also brought another innovation for Daniel: carrots! We thought it's time let him try his first "solid" food. He was eyeing this red stuff that kept ending up in his mouth with a lot of skepticism, and it looks like he is not quite sure whether he should love or hate it... Hmhm, is it a bad sign when he looks so relieved when it is over?
